NEW\nYORK \u2013 September 23, 2019 \u2013 <\/strong>Sony\nMusic Entertainment today announced the promotions of Mark Cavell and Per\nHauber to lead the Company\u2019s Classical, Jazz, Broadway and non-traditional\ncontemporary music business. Based in New York, Cavell will become President of\nSony Masterworks and Hauber will become President of Sony Classical, based in\nBerlin. They will report to Rob Stringer, Chairman, Sony Music Group and Kevin\nKelleher, Chief Operating Officer, Sony Music Entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As was previously announced, Bogdan\nRoscic will step down from his post as Head of the Sony Music Classical\nbusiness to become the Artistic Director of the Vienna State Opera next\nyear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In making the announcement, Stringer\nsaid, \u201cI want to thank Bogdan for leading our Classical music business for the\nlast 10 years. He has been a great steward of our rich catalog and brought in\nnew artists to the Sony Music family. We all wish him well in the next exciting\nphase of his career at the Vienna State Opera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMark and Per have a track record of\nsuccess expanding our Masterworks and Classical division around the\nworld. Their understanding of the importance and evolving nature of the market\nunderscores their commitment to maintaining Sony Music as a home to iconic and\ndeveloping artists, music experiences, live entertainment and stage\nsoundtracks. I\u2019m pleased they will be at the helm of this next chapter of the\ncompany.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cavell said, \u201cI\u2019m excited to continue\ndiversifying the Masterworks division on a global basis. We have come a long\nway in a few years to build a successful Live Event and Entertainment business\nto complement our rich heritage as a recorded music label, but this is just the\nbeginning of what we can and will achieve for Sony Music.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hauber said, \u201cIt is a great privilege\nand responsibility to oversee the future and heritage of Sony Classical. I look\nforward to leading the division into the next decade and facing the business\u2019\nchallenges together with my colleagues around the world. I believe there is a\nbright future ahead of us as our genre is truly global and so is our unique\nsetup.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most recently, Cavell served as U.S.\nlabel head and Senior Vice President of Finance at Sony Music Masterworks since\n2017, first joining Sony Music in 2009 when he oversaw operations for the label\nbased out of London, Berlin and NYC. He has played a key role in the\ndevelopment of Classical Crossover artists including The Piano Guys and 2CELLOS\nand has brought new talent to the label such as Chloe Flower, Alexis Ffrench,\nHiatus Kaiyote and Naia Izumi. Cavell also has overseen the label\u2019s expansion\ninto new partnerships and ventures including the acquisition of UK-based\nPromoters Raymond Gubbay Limited and Senbla, as well as the West Coast based\nsoundtrack label Milan Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to this promotion, Hauber was\nSenior Vice President for Sony Classical International, the Company\u2019s Classical\nrepertoire center in Berlin since 2011. He oversaw the repertoire center\u2019s\nA&R, International Marketing, Catalog and Product Development departments.\nHauber has worked closely with top Classical artists including Jonas Kaufmann,\nIgor Levit and Teodor Currentzis. He was instrumental in bringing to Sony\nClassical the New Year\u2019s Day Concert with the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. He\njoined Sony Music Entertainment from Universal Music Germany, where he was\nDirector, running the marketing team for the Company\u2019s Classical releases from\n2002-2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
