UK-based Broccoli Content to Drive\nContinued Expansion of Original Podcast Content for Global Audiences <\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW\nYORK \u2013 October 24, 2019 \u2013<\/strong>\nAward-winning podcast producer Renay Richardson and Sony Music Entertainment\ntoday announced the launch of a new multi-genre podcasting joint venture\nfocused on the development and distribution of original programming. Richardson\nis a producer who has previously worked for\nleading podcast platforms including Acast, Audible and Panoply and a successful\nindependent podcast creator whose credits include About Race with Reni\nEddo-Lodge<\/em> and The Receipts<\/em> on 1xtra<\/em> from BBC Radio 1Xtra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The London-based joint venture, called Broccoli Content, will\ndevelop a wide range of original scripted and unscripted podcasts under the\nleadership of Richardson and drive an expansion of opportunities for unique\nstorytellers around the world to broadly connect with listeners. The agreement\nfurther increases Sony Music\u2019s support of the global podcast community and\nmarks its first podcasting production joint venture outside the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Broccoli team will work closely\nwith 4th<\/sup> Floor Creative \u2013 Sony Music UK\u2019s creative division\ncomprising of Brand Partnerships, Content, Creative, Sync, Podcasting, and\nDigital and Audience Development \u2013 to explore a range of podcasting opportunities\noriginating in the UK market, supporting Sony Music artists and podcasting\ntalent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning her podcast career at Acast in 2014, Richardson was the\nfirst content manager in the company\u2019s London office, helping acquire some of\nthe platform\u2019s biggest shows including Scroobius Pip\u2019s Distraction Pieces\nPodcast<\/em>, Adam Buxton\u2019s Podcast and Arsecast<\/em> (The Arsenal\nPodcast).  Moving into production, Richardson developed fashion retailer\nASOS\u2019 first podcast My Big Idea<\/em> and their second These Four Walls<\/em>\nbefore moving to Audible to work in the Original Content team and then onto\nBrooklyn based Panoply. In 2018, Richardson embarked on a freelance career\nproducing shows both independently and for brands such as Spotify and Pearson,\nincluding The Receipts<\/em> on 1xtra<\/em> and About Race<\/em>. She\nfounded Broccoli Content in the summer of 2018 in response to the lack of\nopportunities both in front of, and behind, the mic for minority talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
