London and New York \u2013 September 20, 2022 \u2013\u202f<\/strong>Somethin\u2019 Else and Sony Music Entertainment today launched their new podcast This is History: A Dynasty to Die For.<\/em><\/a> Hosted by bestselling author and historian Dan Jones, the series explores the story of\u202fthe most dysfunctional family of the Middle Ages\u202f-\u202fThe Plantagenets \u2013 and examines how power, greed,\u202freligion and sex fueled their lives with turmoil. Previously described as the \u201creal life Game of Thrones\u201d, the story of The Plantagenets takes listeners on a wild ride as the family leaves a trail of destruction across Europe and beyond, their\u202fpersonal feuds and psychodramas playing out on an\u202fepic scale.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series consists of 24 episodes, two released per week. Each 15-minute installment is\u202fpacked with drama, following\u202f Henry II – The Plantagenet’s answer to\u202fSuccession’s<\/em> \u202fLogan Roy\u202f- as he employs charisma, recklessness and strategic masterstrokes to win his crown. His children betray each other in their hunger to take him down, and the family matriarch,\u202fEleanor of Aquitaine, navigates a man’s world to claim her own power.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being\u202fEngland’s longest reigning and most ruthless dynasty, with moments that feel like they’ve been taken\u202fstraight from\u202fThe Sopranos\u202f<\/em>playbook, the story of The Plantagenets is still\u202frelatively unknown. Jones guides\u202fhis listeners\u202fthrough this tumultuous period of history in a manner that’s at once compelling and dramatic, as well as accessible and fun. His narration is supported by an\u202fimpressive, immersive\u202fsoundscape and score, which transports listeners to medieval\u202fEngland.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n
